lose weight (read all 114 entries…)
119.5 13 months ago

wow i broke through the 120’s barrier. this morning i was 119.5 after being out of town for 2 weeks and not weighing myself. i also didn’t drink nearly enough water so to have still lost weight is great and i ate out everyday. now that i am home i will start drinking heaps of water again. i have to say, i think i lost because i was soo busy while i was there and didn’t obsess over meals, just ate as i liked and chose healthy foods (kinda…haha, i did have some spinach cheese-filled tortellini with a cream sauce while i was there, cuban food, mexican, and chicken pesto paninis).

i’m so happy i’ve found a lifestyle change that suits me. no more yo-yo dieting and no more feeling like i’m starving or depriving myself. i’m completely satisfied with what i eat.

anyway, 9.5 more pounds to lose! yay!

god that amazing!

very impressive, i’m very jealous eapecially as i’m at your start weight!!!!!

aww thanks :)

i have to say, it’s really just about changing your perspective on things. i promise it’s not as hard as it seems. i had been in the 130’s for as long as i could remember but i truly did want a change. my biggest helps were:

1. giving myself a year (because at first my goal weight was 115 and that would have been less than 2 lbs per month, so i told myself how could i not do it?)

2.finding an exercise program i like (i don’t even sweat and my body is totally changing)

3.listening to those weight-loss podcasts that were recommended on here (they actually made a TON of sense to me)

4. making myself more accountable – like by telling my family i want to lose and writing on here

5. drinking more water

6. seeing the scale move is great motivation, or reading what others write here

but i promise, if i CAN do it, you totally can. if i can help at all let me know! :)

thanks i hope i can be as successful as you have been im gunna really try to focus, as i want this for me and no one else.

thanks for the tips, i already drink 2 litres of water aday but do need to find an execise program i like and can stick too!

im one of those pple that want to be thin like yesterday! and i think that is why i keep failing as i am good for say 5 days and wen i dont see results i give up

i must remember that it is a marathon not a sprint and it will take time

good luck with the rest of your goal

one more question, i stuggle with food – what do u at in a typical day? thanks

don't we all? ;) lol

ok so i used to really struggle with food. never counted calories – too much work! but thought a lot about it…whether it was losing weight and what was i gonna eat, or being happy with myself and figuring out what my next gourmet yummy meal would be. basically all the time. i mean food is great, but i really wanted to end my love affair with it and not let it control me. anyway, all of that sums up to this:

when i decided to lose the weight i tried to completely not eat sweets/junk and when i would fail, i felt like a failure. the only thing that kept me from stopping and giving up was because i had told people i was going to lose and wrote on here for accountability. and i did want the change. so, most of us do screw up, don’t give up because of it. it’s just getting our bodies used to not having junk and it’s hard.

truly, about food, it kind of always changes. my day kind of goes like this:

-drink coffee (full cream + sugar) around 8 or 9am.

-eat breakfast (depends on what i feel like…usually a banana, or cereal, or oatmeal or a mango) at 10 or 11am. not a big breakfast person.

-bottle of water 11-1ish and throughout the day.

-eat lunch…changes everyday! sometimes i do tuna on a huge bed of lettuce with soup, or mexican, or italian, or wraps/subs, black bean burgers with homemade chips. just depends. however, if i go out to eat, i try to eat half of the meal. i actually get full halfway and don’t even deprive myself. i DO eat lunch around 2pm or before because i get hungry faster since breakfast is light and have to eat to avoid getting super hungry.

-dinner is very light. for example, eating leftovers from lunch. or cereal (i don’t know why i really like it…but the healthy kind). i love steamed broccoli, asparagus, green beans, cauliflower with some garlic salt and pepper. sooo good! i eat around 5 or 6pm

-night-time. so i don’t sleep early and during this time is when i would usually eat right up until i went to bed. now, i drink a hot cup of tea that is pretty darn satisfying. or a half glass of wine. or water. i noticed my stomach feels great in the morning when i don’t eat late at night.

-overall and this is key, think of what you normally eat. then think of how you feel hours later. does your body feel good? if you think of food that way i guarantee you will choose healthier foods for the mere fact that you want to feel better, longer, with what you eat. i hope that makes sense and it works wonders for me. when i eat steamed vegetables, i can eat bowls of it and still feel good. try to think about that…

i hope this helps! what are your stats and your goal for losing?

maeinwaiting agrhhhhhh

my stats

my currant weight is 138lbs i want to lose 18lbs abd be 120lbs im 5ft 2 and so extra weight really shows! i carry most the weight on my tummy and boobs im a typical apple shape.

well im off to the gym to feel the burn for 90minutes!!

keep up the good work and hopefully i will be on your tracks soon enough :)x

You're Where I'm Going!!

You and I are the same height and close to the same starting weight, mine was a little higher. I’ve set my goal weight higher than yours, but that may change as I get closer to my initial goal, as I’ve noticed you’ve lowered your goal weight. I was shooting for 125-130 because I was thinking anything less might be too thin, but after looking at old photos of myself I’m thinking 120-125 might be better. Don’t you love this site? It has helped me incredibly posting everything I eat every day and reading other’s trials and tribulations. You have done so well and your eating style is somewhat similar to mine. Are you afraid of getting too thin? I noticed in one of your posts that you can’t really see the weight loss, are you concerned that your not seeing yourself realistically? I know I certainly wasn’t seeing how fat I was getting and now it’s like suddenly I can see it. Anyway, that might work in reverse too. Well you are doing great and I’m sure your not too thin as people would be commenting about it. Funny how people feel ok commenting on someone being “too thin” but never “too fat”

how funny!

this site does help. i actually read all of ‘see why’s’ entries! maybe not all but i realized she lost her weight over 6 months or so and we’re similar in age and it motivated me. also, my mom is the one who said, ‘give yourself a year.’ because she knew it was something i really wanted to change and have wanted to change for years.

and yes! i look at my ‘before’ pictures (i encourage you to take some) and still see myself as big in a bikini in them but i used to think i looked fine with clothes on. haha – but it’s funny now i’m kind of starting to see it as being bigger the smaller i get.

for now i would say no about looking scary skinny. if i get to 110, i think people will probably notice but it will all be for good reasons. i have nothing to hide and i am proud of the way i have lost it. if anything, i think it has been incredibly easy and wouldn’t mind telling anyone what’s worked for me. and i’m just so excited to know it’s not coming back on because it’s truly a change in lifestyle.

oh yes, and about seeing myself not realistically. not sure…i have to admit i thought 120 was the perfect weight and 115 was like, my final number. but i think 110 is doable. online i’ve found anywhere from 107-116 as being good for my age and frame (small). i’m very open to stopping (although i’m not totally trying) if it gets to be too low. but that’s also why i’m taking pictures, so i can see the progress.

also i haven’t seen my boyfriend since march so i’m excited to see him and who knows, maybe he will see a difference. my sister said since i don’t wear tight clothes she couldn’t really tell. so yeah, definitely don’t think i hit too thin. :) good luck in your goal, we can do it!

oh, one more thing, i think if we change our goals to be lower in weight it’s not that we’re seeing a distorted version of ourselves necessarily, it’s that we got so used to what we were before. i remember when that scale would creep up to 140+ and i would think something was wrong with it or that my clothes were just all shrinking at the same time! if i ever got below 130 it was like a miracle or because i’d tried fasting. on my driver’s license it says ‘125’ and i used to think gosh if i really weighed that i would be so happy. but now that i’m past that it’s like the next stretch is ahead and i know i can make it.
