I started collecting shot glasses back in 2001.

I decided to collect shot glasses of places that I visited. It seemed a great way of building a collection, plus collecting memories of things I’d done and places I’d been.

I have three rules, though:

1. They have to be places that I have been to, not gifts

2. No adverts or logos (e.g. No shot glasses advertising films or products, or with statements like “one tequila, two tequila, three tequila, FLOOR!”)

3. One shot glass per location (e.g. If I visit Florida twice, I only have one shot glass for Florida)

I only broke the second rule once: I visited Thorpe Park, but the only shot glass I could find for Thorpe Park came as a box set with shot glasses for the rollercoasters Stealth, Nemisis Inferno and Collosus. I reasoned, even though the shot glasses are technically adverts for the ride – they were the big roller coasters when I visited and I had ridden on all of them so kept them in (well, it’d be a shame to split the set up!
