I haven’t hosted an exchange student yet, but my husband and I signed up for the community host program at the local university, and we were assigned an international student from China to be nice to. We took her out to dinner and invited her to family gatherings, gave her a place to stay over breaks, and took her to the airport to go home for the summer. This was a great experience, and we have made a new friend. I definitely recommend participating in this kind of program if it’s available in your area.

Help for Hosting
We hosted an exchange student from Tajikistan this year and loved it!
When you host a student, your entire family goes on an enlightening, really fun adventure. Simply by sharing your home for just a school year, you will be giving an exceptional young person from another country the opportunity of a lifetime–to experience the language, customs and culture of our country. In return, your exchange student will bring to your family a bit of his or her homeland.
I would love to help you join in on this wonderful experience. My e-mail is tuunses1@yahoo.com. : )
