write about this kind of thing under another goal, but I felt like this needed to be its own separate entity. Ever since I have come back from Japan I have been struggling to keep my weight down. At first I blamed it on Christmas and being out of my normal routine – but I think this many months on there’s clearly more to it. I have taken one or two kilos off at different points, but then I relax and it goes straight back on. Which is kind of a pain because I just didn’t have to think this much in Japan – my weight stayed within the same range and it never felt like a lot of effort. But I can see that I am doing some things differently. I’m less active than I was in Japan – I did a lot more walking on a day-to-day basis and went to the gym more than I’m going here. I ate smaller portions of healthier food. Having no oven combined with my dietary restrictions (I’m gluten and dairy intolerant) meant that I didn’t bake or eat baked goods – gluten-free things like cakes or bread were very difficult to come by in Japan and I just did without.
But now that I realise all this it’s time to do something about it. I don’t just want to accept putting on weight as being inevitable now that I’m back home. I was very happy at my previous weight and I want to get back to where I was.
