I’m ashamed to say I know enough about excel to be dangerous. I do have it installed on my home computer and have played around with it a bit. I don’t have to use it at work on a regular basis so there really is no reason to learn – I just want to. We have FREE classes available to us through one of our carriers to take excel training but management wont let us do it because it will take away from work time. I think I may propose to management that I will do this on my own time during work hours. I have debated paying for a class for excel and to take an online class from home or something like that. I just don’t like not being comfortable with a program. I know once I get started it will be easy. I just need to learn the basics.

you'll be glad you did Nik
It’s a really useful, nifty program. I love it, and after years of using it for all manner of applications, I am STILL learning all kinds of neat tricks Excel can do. Have fun!
I'm sure I will
I bet there are things that I do in other programs, especially word that would be much better suited in a program like excel. I just need to know how to use it properly. I actually signed up for a video podcast through iTunes a few months ago that teaches you excel but it seems that these are more advanced things. I still subscribe to in with hopes that some day I will get to use these advanced goodies – once I master the basics. :o)

I love excel
I love making my spreadsheets and linking them to this and that and on and on. I am a bit of a nutcase when ti comes to my spreadsheets.
I hope you have had more time to get involved with a class.

Me too
I had to work with Excel and it was like officially playing computer games during working hours (because Excel is pure fun for me!) :D And everybody was happy :D

I agree
Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun!
I had a job at a bank when I lived in another city where all I did was balance work coming from branches. I was thrilled. I loved that job sooo much I would have worked for free if I didn’t need the money. It is the only thing I like more than working wtih Excel spreadsheets.
Silly isn’t it?

Sometimes loving your job means more then getting money from it :)
I worked as a business analyst and an accountant, Excel was required but also very helpful. I liked creating my own tools in it. I was being paid for having fun!
I hope I get to that point
I can see the potential, but just need a better understanding. I had to create a new spreadsheet yesterday for a project for one of my managers. She knows I don’t have the experience with Excel and I have asked them to send me to a class. She says she’ll teach me anything I need to know. We’ll see. She’s going to help me tweak my spreadsheet today.
Yes, a class needs to be a priority. Thanks! :o)

those microsoft tutorial books
are very helpful. They offer a step by step explanation of how to do all kinds of things, even advanced stuff. Check one out at the local library so you don’t have to pay for it and play wiht it for a while. I am sure you will learn all kinds of things.
Thanks
I’ll have to go down to the library and check that out.
I did learn few things while working on the spreadsheet with my manager today so that was good. Making progress.. :o)
