disclose 43 random THINGS about myself (read all 12 entries…)

In the early 90’s I volunteered for ‘Rubberstuffers’. A HIV health inititive for gay men.
Twice a week I would ‘stuff’ condoms, lube & sexual health info into small packs to be circulated in bars, clubs etc. I worked alongside some really fantastic people, we had a blast in that tiny office in Kings Cross.
I lost a lot of friends back then.
We were all politically active, demos, marches, lobbying etc but packing those condoms I did to help myself as much as anything.
Every one I packed could keep someone healthy.
It was a practical way to help, sure, but it psychologically kept me from going under. Those days kept me fighting, the other volunteers kept me strong.
I learn’t a lot more about ‘family’ ,community, love & friendship, lessons I will always hold true to my heart.
