Unfortunately, if I knew exactly what I was looking for I might have found it by now. Here’s the closest I can get so far:
It needs at least 2 large inside sections, but no more than three. An outside pocket for my keys that’s easy to get into but I won’t lose things out of (maybe it could have a flap or something like that, but easy to open with one hand). Inside, a makeup pocket to fit miscellaneous lipstick, a small mirror, etc. – most purses already have something that works for this. Inside also a pocket near the top for my cell phone – most seem to be either too shallow, too small, too large, or too small of an opening at the top. I guess it depends on the size of your cell phone, though.
It has to have enough room to fit a full-size wallet without having it feel stuffed when you put other things in it also. It should also have a “pen pocket”—something deep enough to put a pen in and clip it onto the pocket, without it interfering with the zipper. It has to be low enough in the bag. Maybe on the end section instead of the side with other pockets.
As far as handles, I would prefer to have a “convertible” style, if there is such a thing—I like them short most of the time, just to hold in my hand, but sometimes I need to throw it over my shoulder. It would be great if there was a way to easily “convert” it without having the extra strap always in the way. Is there anything with straps that can lengthen and shorten, but the excess can be stored away inside the lining of the purse or something? And the handles have to be substantial, none of this spaghetti-strap crap. I want to feel safe holding it, that someone can’t come up with a pair of scissors and cut the strap and run off with it.
So on goes the search. It’s more the inside pockets that are such a challenge. The best purse I have found so far was nothing like the above, but it has a magnetic “flap” along the bottom that is a flat, separate compartment for my wallet. The “pocket” is actually the whole bottom of the purse, reinforced to keep it’s shape. Really neat. Then the rest goes in the top, but it needs a cell phone pocket, pen pocket & makeup pocket it doesn’t have. Oh well. Maybe some day. I hope this helps your research some!
