lose weight (read all 13 entries…)
I am beginning to think this goal is not worthwhile. 13 months ago

If I focus on what I want (lose the weight of the extra fat on my body) I may be creating more of it.
Using weight as a measure of my progress is for me very discouraging. I am fairly muscular, and I want to lose fat, not lose muscle. Focusing on losing weight I tend to under-eat, thus reducing the ability of my muscles to recover after intense workout.
For now I will put aside this goal and focus on my 10% bodyfat goal

I sympathize...

That’s why I use clothing fit as a measure of success. I don’t weigh myself very often. If I do weight training I bulk up really fast and start to look like the old stereotype Eastern European female Olympic shot-putter. It’s not pretty.

Eating plan

Clothing fit is certainly likely to be a much more useful measure. I prefer bodyfat measurements, using the cheap Accu-Measure skin fold calipers.
Most of us need to have a suitable eating plan for our lifestyle. An intense gym workout can increase our appetite. I find fresh crisp crunchy raw vegetables really great, with grilled fish, chicken breast or tuna very satisfying for that increased appetite. More carbohydrates only earlier in the day. I have five or six small meals rather than 3 large meals. That way I avoid feeling hungry.
