Can someone please explain to me why it is rude to turn down a piece of birthday cake.
Because apparently, that is what I am for not eating any cake today.

Eh, it’s okay! I think sometimes when you’re trying to lose weight and others around you aren’t and you turn down food on others’ special occasions they tell you it’s rude, but truthfully, they wish they had your willpower! It’s really hard to say no sometimes in situations like that! Coming from a cake lover, that took strength and willpower! I would have caved in a heartbeat and been the girl having “just a small piece,” even if I had gone in saying “I’m not gonna have any.” You did great and I commend you on your ability to pass up any kind of cake!! You are committed to your weight loss and your health and if more people would say no to cake, we wouldn’t be facing a diabetes epidemic, and fewer people would have high cholesterol and high blood pressure, etc… Pat yourself on the back, you did great! YOU SAID NO TO CAKE!! HEHE!!

I think it’s rude to tell people what they should eat x_x If you didn’t want cake, than that’s okay for you. If you accepted the cake, that’s a-okay.
Personally, like LiLmissSunshine said, you had the willpower not to eat it so kudos to you =]

You know, I have pondered this same question and situation before. It is odd that people consider such trivial things to be rude. And I wonder…if, considering you may already be labeled as rude…if it would worsen the situation if you took the piece of cake that you didn’t want (since it may have been insisted that you do so) and promptly disposed of it in the nearest trash receptacle. But, I suppose that would be a little over the top.
