see a broadway musical
Avenue Q 19 months ago

On April 1, 2007, my now-fiance and I took an impromptu trip to New York City. While we were there, I knew I had to see a Broadway musical, since I’ve been a fan of musicals for as long as I can remember. We wanted to see The Drowsy Chaperone, as I’ve had my eye on that since before it came to Broadway in April of 2006, but our oversight of when it was showing led us to have to take a miss on it. It was only playing a matinee that day and we didn’t realize that until it was too late. I also wanted to see Curtains but we ran into the same situation on that one as well. Instead, we chose to see Avenue Q. It was an excellent choice. We got our tickets at the TKTS booth which meant that we only spent about $100 on our tickets which were in the rear of the orchestra level.

He and I laughed so hard we cried and I cried a little bit (at the appropriate times), and absolutely loved the entire thing. My only regret is that I didn’t come home with a Trekkie-monster hand puppet.

I’d recommend going to see a show to anyone who loves musicals. Even if it isn’t the original cast, there’s a different energy seeing it in New York City versus seeing it on a Broadway tour.

I would (and did) do it again. :)
