xiehan is reflecting on the past year.
I did this for the first time about ~4 months ago, and I had a lot of fun with it. The wide range of people’s reactions were very amusing, too. (I hadn’t told anyone that I was planning to do this.) Probably my favorite comment was from a professor who said, “You know, if I didn’t know that people aren’t supposed to have green hair, I’d say that it looks completely natural on you.”
It was definitely a worthwhile experience, but on the other hand, I’m not sure if I’d ever do it again. The dark green shade faded very quickly into this muddy green-brown color, and I had to redye it every 3-4 weeks to go back to the shade I really wanted. Also, the dye stains everything, even weeks later. My pillow covers will probably never look the same again.
