Eat everything on BBC's '50 things to eat before you die' list
Cook with these items 4 years ago

Maybe I would change my entry to something like “Cook a meal with everything on this list”, since I like cooking, especially with strange/new ingredients. Of course, if I screwed up cooking guinea pigs, maybe I wouldn’t want to do it a second time, and then I’d miss out on eating points.

OK, so what am I missing/what have I eaten that’s interesting?

  • Moreton Bay Bugs
  • Cream tea
  • Alligator—had this in sausage form in New Orleans
  • Kangaroo
  • Venison—best I ever had was rare at the Inn on the Twenty
  • Guinea pig
  • Shark—lots; dogfish (or mudshark) counts, and you are often eating this when having fish & chips, since they don’t have bones
  • Barramundi
  • Reindeer—probably not very different from venison

Your food

Are you crazy?? (or am I?) Anyway, I’m from Australia, and I have certainly tried a number of items on your list.
Moreton Bay Bugs…they are …THE BEST.
The most delicious, succulent, morsels of shellfish that one could ever indulge in..Barramundi, is also, worth an effort, but please, only if fresh…Shark, who cares?? Reindeer and Kangaroo I have an issue with….they are both too…innocent (?) As for cream tea…!!! Well, dear Boris,..you either get it or you don’t..
As for what you “should” try….of course, it all comes down to taste..and bravery..but…I must insiste…please try a “munster” cheese but only from France…if you cannot find this, then another rind washed cheese from France will substitute..B.C. has some of the best oysters in the world so I cannot really highlight my beloved Sydney Rock or Tasmanian Pacific over those…but … the East Coast Crayfish from Tas is…sublime.

Boris Mann has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
