develop conversational skills
Untitled 7 months ago

I’m really bad at thins. Mostly because I’m really bad at coming up with questions to ask the other person. What’s worse is that I just had the most awkward conversation EVER with certain teachers at my high school (where I went back for a visit the other day) with whom I used to be able to have amazing conversations with.

I think it might have something to do with my limited social group at college. I had such a large group of friends in HS and then…as a result of several things (living situation, my own shyness etc.) I don’t have such a group at college. As a result my conversation skills haven’t had as much practice and they have died. I can still have good conversations with my close friends…but its small talk with people with whom I am not so close that I need to work on.

Maybe this could work

It’s easier to lead a conversation if you ask people the kind of questions you wouldn’t mind, or even want to be asked yourself. People are in some ways all very similar (what you’d enjoy others might enjoy too). It’s certainly a fun way to test the waters and see where it goes.
