Go on an African Safari

Worth doing!

South Africa 2007  — 2 months ago

I was blessed with the opportunity to go on a 2 week mission trip to Port Edward, South Africa last summer. It was amazing, to say the least. And on our final afternoon there, we got to go on a real safari. It wasn’t deep in the jungle and whatnot, but it was just our car and the open plains of Africa and its wildlife.

Animals I saw: LOTS of Antelope, Giraffes, Zebras, Warthogs (and warthog babies! sooo cute!), rams, exotic birds and such. It was lovely. Everyone needs to experience some part of Africa at least once in their life.

I would cheer

but I have no cheers for now. A nurse from Africa told me I should just go to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego, but I don’t think it’s the same thing. What did you do on your mission trip?

I actually went to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego a couple weeks after I got back from Africa. We went as a family for the 4th of July, and being all hyped up on Africa I really wanted to go there and see all the animals. It’s an amazing place and you see everything a whole lot closer, but there’s something about seeing the animals in their natural habitat that makes it quite special.

I went through Life Connection Ministries who are based in Atlanta, Georgia, and it is a wonderful Christian organization. On my mission trip I helped build/plant a green house, visited schools, canvassed (where we took bread and candy to the villagers and prayed with them), led tent revivals (where we sang worship songs and prayed with the Africans), and played in the Indian Ocean. :) It was a blast. I’m going back next year.
