June Update

So, as I’ve mentioned before I’ve moved credit debt to an interest free account. Of course the credit union made a mistake and sent me my first statement with interest. Fortunately, an angry phone call took care of this. I even got an apology.

I’ve got 4k left of cc debt and a few hundred dollars on my husbands motorcycle left. There would have been a major dent in this had our tax guy actually done our taxes and we received out stimulus check. So I’m still paying it down the old fashioned way. I’m still debating biting the bullet and just sending off some large checks to be done with these payments or holding the money closer as our income has been so up and down. Most of the year I’ve been taking the latter option. I am getting so close on the motorcycle loan that I may just send a lump sum later this month. We’ll see.

I’ve also cut down on one of my largest expenses. The extra money savings I’ll likely throw at the remaining debt. Still sooo close I can taste it. It has taken some serious self restrain not to just write a check and get it over with but I still think keeping the money liquid is the better option right now.

Sacrifice

This will apply to about .01% of the population, but I moved my horse back to my parents house a couple of months ago. It had nothing to do with wanting to reduce debt. It had to do with the facilities he was at being dangerous. I am now only paying the cost of his feed. That was my number 2 expense after my rent. Of course, the trade off is that I only get to see about once a week. It is a 60 mile round trip to go see him instead of 8 mile round trip.

I’ve been looking at other boarding facilities nearby but have decided to put that off until I’m completely out of debt and socking money away. I know he is safe where he is at and having him a there a few months more will help me out financially.
