have the courage to write to people whose websites I consume daily and tell them how great they are (read all 10 entries…)
this one is really hard 4 years ago

because rejection hurts soooo bad. But I did one today. And you know what? I don’t care if I’m rejected. I’m glad I did it.

nano is obviously setting free all kinds of bravery in me!

I did this once...

... emailed a photographer whose photos I admired. I had also downloaded a few of the free photos he offered for download. I thanked him for the free photos and told him that I loved his pictures. Guess what happened?

He emailed me back the next day and said that during the years that he’s had the free photos on his website, not one of all those people who downloaded them ever wrote him to say thank you. He said it was great to know that someone didn’t just take this gift for granted, and took the time to write him a note. So—I say go for it! We all like to be appreciated, and I bet the people who run those websites you love will be happy to hear from you.

i hope you're right

I just hit the send button on another one…eeeeks. I’m always scared they’ll think ‘oh no, not more boring fanmail’ but sod it. You never know when it’s going to come at the right time.

Thank you for the encouragement! I will not feel silly for doing this!

Course I'm right ;o)

No, seriously… have you ever NOT wanted to be thanked by someone? We all like to hear a thank you. And if your website creators DON’T want to hear it, well that tells you something about who they are, no?

Very True

Few years back we had a thing running at work n the guy who did it was off sick so someone stepped in to help out. At the end of his stay I sent him a little “thank you” and this is what I got back …

“Thank you Malcolm, 2 people out of 150!
Shows your class & intelligence.”

I didn’t write to get a response but it made me realise just how important it is to remember to say thank you. I’ve never forgot the lesson and have kept his email as a constant reminder.
