However, everday life, makes me want to rethink my position on that….
However, if I did not think there was a power bigger than myself, I know I would be a really really bad person…
So, I admire the people, that can still live honestly , and well,..just because..its the right thing to do

I am not sure…I must say, that maybe I think already I am a bad person because of religion..if I, was an atheist, maybe I won’t think that..not kidding..something for me to think about…
I never quite thought about it..until you said it, maybe I am not so bad after all, but I bet in the end, I would probably still, live life, the way I am living it..isn’t that funny..maybe its not, about God at all, but about the human heart?
religion does not make people "good"
You are definitely right when you say it’s not about god. Many people make the mistake of thinking that humans take their morals from religion, but I would strongly disagree. The Bible is extremely violent and God himself commands people to kill others, so I would argue that our morality etc comes from somewhere other than religion.
I am sure you are NOT a bad person, but a religious upbringing etc teaches us that we are bad, why is that? Besides, as you say, if you were an atheist you would live your life the way you live it now.
If you are finding yourself doubting the existence of a god, don’t feel bad, feel proud that you are intelligent enough to see through religion and the way it teaches people NOT to question things and to instead just blindly believe what you are told.
Sorry for my little essay, it’s just when I stumbled upon your first comment I really felt like I had to say something. I think you are selling yourself short saying that you are only “good” because of some old guy up in the sky that doesn’t exist.

Your comments leave me feeling a bit confused. I’m a good person anyway I slice it…at least I think so. :P I haven’t killed anyone yet although I have to say I’ve wanted to before.

However, I’ve never been a person who had those feelings. I’ve never had the question “Why am I here?” or “Is there a higher power?”
I am comfortable in my beliefs, but I do understand the most people need religion and that doesn’t bother me.

i am a strong believer in God, and what Jesus did on the cross for us. the whole thing is, is that we all suck at this being good thing. all of us are bad people!! are you kidding?? do you think that just cuz someone is a christian that everything is easy and that we are now ‘good’? God is good, he is perfect infact, and he knows how we act and how we don’t act. thats why jesus died, was becuase he was well aware they we couldn’t be perfect. so he sacrificed himself, so we didn’t have to be perfect. God gives us strength to do the right thing. its through his love, that we want to love others. not through anything we do ourselves. i can tell you that i am a horrible person. i am a ” bad ” person, but with Jesus, i am looked at in a new light. yup so it pretty much rocks. :)
so you can pretend God isnt real by being an athiest…but its a pretty big gamble if he is.
