1 – blegh blegh blegh (crappy basement apt)
2 – interesting and cute enough, despite all linoleum floors. but, price seems to be high when you consider that no utilities are included at all.
3 – the landlord seemed to reject me based on race. (yes, in this time and in this place!!!)
4 – great landlord. So-so building. Very weirdly layed-out apartment. I wish this landlord owned more property, as would love to rent from someone like this.

It's
probably not up for votes, but I’ll vote for 4 anyway. That’s how much I love weird layouts!
All the best with your search, bookish.
yeah...
i think of myself as someone who likes weird layouts, but this one is not just weird, but designed in such a way that i think it would make me v. unhappy to live there.
because i myself am so weird
i decided to try to make a layout map of the place, from memory.
here it is, below…
the orange is the living room area, the yellow is actually part of the living room area, but is where the kitchen stuff is,
then the dark teal is the strange entrance hallway, the pink is bathroom and the light blue is the bedroom… the reason the entrance hallway is strange is that it’s a lot bigger than entrance hallways need to be, but so weirdly shaped that it’s hard to use the space.
basically the br is tiny and gets almost no light.
the living room kitchen area is smaller than most people’s kitchens, but it would be fine if this place was on a high floor (as it gets lots of sun) ... but as it is, it’s on the bottom floor, so one cannot hang out there with windows open without passerby staring in at you.
calypte start small, start NOW!
not appealing
at all!
I’m with you that weird layouts can be cool, but they have to be a little bit practical, too!
Faustus is in unfamiliar territory!
Eventually
you have to see if it works for you or not. You don’t have to pick this one, of course, just because it’s weird ;). Does the bathroom door open to the hallway or to the bedroom? If there is no door there, that hallway may be a nice place to put a table and spend most of the time at! It won’t have the hallway mentality, you see :)
About the light/sunshine, I’m with you. No sun, no good! Is there an efficient way to let the sunshine in and leave the staring passerby out? Upward tilted shades only do that to a limited extent…
