I went to my first meetup meeting last week and it was a blast! I had dinner with some very nice and interesting people and had a wonderful night of conversations, food, and wine. I guess this is equivalent to that great first date in a relationship. But all in all, I am just happy that I took the first step to meeting new people, to overcoming my resistance to change. I stepped out, finally!
I joined meetup about two years ago and it’s been great fun. I mainly go to business networking things, but I’m also in some foodie groups. Sometimes social anxiety gets the best of me and I miss a lot of the purely social events. I’m working on improving that though.

I am actually the exact opposite of you. I have been wanting to get into the business networking aspect of the meetups, but had decided that getting my feet wet with social activities would be less intimidating. Have you met some worthwhile business contacts during the meetups? What about some of the women business groups?
