In my marriage, I take care of almost all housekeeping tasks, run errands, and coordinate weekend activities & vacation planning…
...(gasps)...I’m a housewife!
I’m cool with that (wink)

but I do bad housework. When I dust, it gets pushed around like peas on a kid’s plate. When I vacuum, the dust puffs up into the air and I leave marks on the white baseboards. The mirrors are streaky. I get distracted and forget to put back the furniture in its right spot. I can’t figure out what to do with the clothes and then people don’t like what I do do with them, like leave them on the beds and stuff. Yep, I’m bad at it.
Then I say, hey, let’s hire someone to do this stuff. And I get looked at like, “what’s wrong with you?” and then I go on strike as to tasks. Meaning, forget the laundry and then people have to re-wear their underwear. See what I mean?
I should be doing some sort of housework right now, and instead, I’ve crept upstairs with my laptop where I sit on my unmade bed and write this.
There is a reason for this. I am miffed. Do you like that word? I do. It’s kind of ladylike, like your lady with the duster thingie. I’ll get over it. And maybe make the bed.
makes a difference, I think. : ) I have to admit that I’m surprised, though – judging by the photos you’ve posted of your (immaculate) homes, I had assumed that your were somewhat obsessive-compulsive in your household cleaning habits!
When I used to work, I usually neglected chores until, as in your case, the laundry (or dishes) ran out, or until dust bunnies started creeping out from under the furniture to flutter about openly on the wood & tile floors.
When/if I return to the workforce, I believe that we may just hire someone to keep our place clean!
I did throw out my duster, though. BAH! Dusters are horrible things. Now I just wipe everything down with Pledge, and that has made my life a lot easier.
By the way – miffed is another one of my favorite words. ; )

you know, before pictures and stuff.
Some of those pictures were done when we had just moved in and hadn’t had a chance to litter and clutter the house.
Still, to be fair, we are pretty good about keeping it looking nice and clean. There are however some troublesome areas. Right now, about four hours of concentrated effort would greatly enhance the bedroom and master bathroom, so you get the idea… Downstairs is pretty good. That’s where people stroll through, so it makes me feel happy when it’s looking nice.
