Stalled... 18 months ago

I feel a little stalled out on this goal. I did well before I moved, but then I stopped reading once I got through some of the easier things.

Lately we’ve had some down time at work when we’re waiting for people to get back to us or whatever and I’ve been reading books online. I finished off Prisoner of Zenda the other day and have started in on Pride and Prejudice. I probably shouldn’t be staring at the screen all day, but it’s better than surfing endlessly. I read pretty quickly too.

Mary? Have you ever read any fantasy series books by Terry Brooks, like, “Sword of Shannara” or “Elfstones of Shannara?” I think the imagery is lush and the story-telling is wonderful. I really enjoy reading that author.

Nope!

I rarely read fantasy novels, honestly. I’ve come across a few that I’ve really enjoyed, but I’ve also come across a lot of duds… I know that when I’ve found things I’ve liked, I’ve gotten totally addicted! I had a hard time slogging through The Hobbit, but I loved the Narnia series and the His Dark Materials trilogy.

Right now I’m trying to read more of my french books, but you know, I should see if there are any french genre authors out there… I’ve picked up a few policiers since they’re generally written as light reading and I do have a french version of “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress”. If I see any fantasy novels in the foreign language shelves, I should pick them up, just to see…
