i watched the great escape.
not so great. i was hoping that it would be one of those 1 & 1/2 hour movies. no. it had to be 3 hours long. three hours ! gah. it was so boring. and, personally, i thought the scrounger (or whatever he was called) was cooler than steve mcqueen.

Just to second cluricaune

BOO!!!

You didn’t like The Great Escape?

Boring?!

::Sigh:: I guess not everyone can have taste, character, or breeding.

I’llprobably still be shaking my head the next time you get online.

Yo, Caitita...

the caitrix ! take the bottle, shake it up, break the bubble, yeah, break it up

Holy shit.

Can you sue anyone for this travesty?

Spartacus?!

You liked Spartacus?

Really? That, in my opinion, is a mostly boring movie that is about an hour too long. I think it’s OK, but nothing special.

One of my biggest movie disappointments ever.

Still, I’ll take it over most of what is produced today.

Kel channeling Ella

Personally, I can't

take Kirk Douglas grinding his jaws for 2 hours no matter what the movie is!

I spent years hating Lawrence of Arabia, until I realized I had only seen it at cheap artsy movie theaters as the second feature of a double, the first one being A Man for All Seasons – I’d been dead tired & half asleep both times! Once I rented the DVD, I formed a different opinion.

So which movie(s) did you find interminably & painfully long?

Jamie A.K.A. Poetry Boy Hello...I'm Johnny Cash

Besides Spartacus...

I find 2001: A Space Odyssey utterrly painful to watch.

I couldn’t wait for Mulholland Drive to end and really can’t stand Titantic.

I know there are others, but those three are good examples.

I love Lawrence of Arabia.

Note to Caiti: No yelling at me over the boat movie. We’ve had this discussion. :)

and you didnt think the great escape was boring ?!

that movie was three hours too long !

Boring?

Not at all. I think it goes by really quickly.

I guess if you’re used to mostly the way contemporary films are paced it seems slow, but I think it moves pretty quickly.

Loved The Great Escape

(one of my son’s favorites, too), loved Lawrence of Arabia, couldn’t wait for Titanic to be over. Though I did get a little teary when Leonardo diCaprio died, but mainly because it was sad to think that real people had to go through that. Otherwise…urp!Way too schmaltzy.

Lawrence of Arabia has one of my favorite movie quotes:

[Lawrence has just extinguished a match between his thumb and forefinger. William Potter surreptitiously attempts the same]
William Potter: Ooh! It damn well ‘urts!
T.E. Lawrence: Certainly it hurts.
Officer: What’s the trick then?
T.E. Lawrence: The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts.

the caitrix ! has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
