live off the land
Be mostly Self-Suffient 18 months ago

My husband & I want to be mostly self-suffient. We already live in a rural area on approximatley 300 acres. We have one female calf about 4 months old, which later will provide us with additional calves and milk. We have chickens, which lay eggs. We have 2 horses, which provide transportation around the land. The nearest town is 10 miles away in either direction. We grow a garden every spring for fresh vegatables and canning. My parents-in-laws also grow a garden (larger & better) and raise cattle for food. We usually help split the cost of butchering with them for a portion of the meat. And we get vegatables out of thier garden, as well.
We plan to get solar panels for electricity. We had a generator that we used to use during power outages, but someone stole it.
We have also been researching alternative fuels for use in vehicles and farm equipment.
I could not possibly bring myself to butcher my own animals, myself. But I’m not above paying someone else to do for me!
I have tried several dozen work at home SCAMS. Still looking for something that I can work from home, without breaking our meager pocket book.

anniepoonanny is so stoked she has a library card again!

Man!

You are so lucky! Oh the things I would do with even just ten acres!

I really hope everything works out the way you hope :D

Thanks!

We are very grateful for what we have and we have put alot of sweat into it. Life on a small farm can be a hard life. And with rising prices of groceries, gas and animal feed, it only makes it tougher. But, we percivere and keep going, being thankful of what we do have, especially having our family healthy and happy.
Thank you for your reply. The best way to get what you want is to keep an eye on your credit, get rid of bad credit & as much debit as possible, and put 5-10% of your income into an interest bearing savings account. Keep a look-out for land or land/home in a rural area, then apply for a FHA loan. Just make sure you will be able to make the monthly payments before you actually sign the paperwork.

My husband’s parents got all our land a little at a time. So when my husband married his first wife, he purchased a used mobile home on a bank loan, using cattle as collateral. He had the loan paid-off in about 5 years. So now the home is paid for, the land is paid for, we just pay utilities and taxes. However, we would love to have a New Home built! LOL

A work at home business

Hi .. I just started doing this and know some people that are making some decent money. It will take work but it does have potential.

If you are interested, take a look at my web site: midgardtech.acnrep.com and you can see what the business is all about.
