Worth doing!

6/28/08  — 1 month ago

Biked 37.5 miles, and there was considerable wind resistance along much of the ride back. It was so strong that when we stopped for lunch at a riverside bar & grill, it blew some of our food off the plate and blew over Hubby’s half-full bottle of beer. At one point it literally tried to blow me off my bike, but I put my left foot down in time to catch myself.

But the early part of the ride was pure joy! The numerous clusters of tiger lillies in full bloom along the way were spectacular!

newvanessa Started the day off with crying...hum!!!!!

windy

Was that Saturday….I was boating with a guy who’s a Wierenga or his mom is….isn’t that funny. He is related to Greg some how I assume he is from Fulton.

We stayed in the port because it was too windy to go out and the waves were horrendous. I can’t imagine trying to bike in it.

Yes,

Saturday. We’ll have to talk about who that was?

Wind Resistance

When I ran the marathon at the start of the month, there was quite a bit of wind the first half. My dad made a comment to me about how it must be nice to have the wind and I pointed out that it was added resistance since we were running into the wind. It’d be one thing if it was a cross-wind or from behind, but running into it just sucked.

Emily is ready to chill - think blueberries in the snow.

or, rather

blew?

Emily,

you made me LMAO!

Well,

I generally love wind resistence, because it helps keep me cool. But Saturday was a bit much for even me! :)

I’m still marveling over you finishing that marathon, btw. Only you would pick one of the toughest ones around as your first!

lava lamp??

THAT is a marvellous shot, DoubleN – thanks for posting! : )

what a beautiful photo

I’m so scared to ride when it’s windy like that, I go off-road to avoid the combination strong winds + cars which really freaks me out.

Your photo is so cheery, great angle :)

OK, guys

get out your cleric’s collar, because I have a confession to make – that great shot of the tiger lily is not mine. It’s just a stock photo I grabbed because it looked so like the lillies I saw on my ride.

I have not yet bought a real bag for my bike (it’s on the list to get) and was using a little bag that the free gifts from the cosmetic counter come in – no room for a camera!
