get all my dental work done (read all 5 entries…)
Remind me never again to wait more than 6 months for a cleaning! 4 years ago

I’m surprised I have any gums left after all the scraping they did. So I am all scraped and polished. My next step is to make an appointment with the oral surgeon for a consulation and new x-rays. I will probably remove the wisdom tooth that is out. The 3 impacted ones don’t bother me too much, but I was advised last time I went that the nerves were really wrapped around them and there is a possibility that if they come out then I could get some numbness in my mouth or lips. Gee that makes me really want to do it. On the other hand they could end up shifting on their own and I would have to get them removed basicially on an emergency basis, which could end up being worse. I don’t care for any of the options but I guess one step at a time. Next week I will make the appointment for the consultation with the oral surgeon.

White teeth

I avoided going to the dentist for years and years. When I was a kid, I used to love going to the dentist and get a check up and my teeth filled and cleaned. Maybe that’s why I have pretty ok teeth as an adult because I looked after them really well as a kid.
Then my wisdom teeth started to erupt 2 years ago. I had the first one out and that was fine. Then, 3 months ago, the third one started to erupt and it killed.
The last 2 were impacted (bony) and had to be taken out. I was told it would hurt but not that much…what bloody liars! It hurt like a bitch, man. I mean I’m glad I had them out because they would have disfigured my jawline but goddamn it, I wish people were honest and told me it will hurt like hell. My face was soo swollen and I couldn’t feel the bottom half of my face, especially my lips, and the first 2 weeks of eating, I had bits of food stuck to my face because I couldn’t open my mouth properly and didn’t feel it sticking to my face.
Then one night while ‘cleaning’ my mouth I accidently plucked the stitches off and there was a gaping wound and food got into it. I tried to get it out with a Q-tip and ended up pushing it further into the hole where it got infected. My nerve was inflamed and infected from the food debris and my face went completely numb…I had this tingling feeling for months. Only now, eveything is back to normal.
I suggest you ask for morphine tablets and get at least 10 bottles of ibuprofen ready and take 3-4 tablets every 6 hours. Don’t let the tablets wear off because the pain is so bloody excruciating. It was so bad for me that I was crying like a little girl and screamed like I’d had my leg chopped off…yeah, it was that bad!
Anyways, I am getting my teeth cleaned on January 10th. I am afraid the dentist is going to think I have ‘cheese teeth’...but I can’t wait to have my teeth all nice and shiny again!
