Suck it up and Deal (read all 31 entries…)
yesterday 18 months ago

was a primo suck it up day. I got a patient who was in complete heart block, but none of hte paramedics had noted it. I do wonder how they could have missed that the dude had a heart rate of like, say 10. 10 is not good.
We floated in a wire into his heart to act as a temporary pacer. The last time I did this was probably 3-5 years ago. Maybe longer.
As we got the pacer in…I noted signs of DIC, diffuse bleeding from a variety of sites. Super hard to take care of and very difficult, of course, more so for the patient and family…I hope he recovers well…definitely a suck it up and feel worried for hours day.
