be a scientist

Two more years  — 2 months ago

and I’m done with my education. I then finally will be a scientist. I passed this year woohoo! For all that are wondering, I’m studying biochemistry :D. I am particularly fond of the genetics side of the work, so who knows I’ll work in that field in a couple of years.

Comments:

I have to cheer this because biochemists deserve to receive more recognition!

I’m not a scientist, but my boyfriend is, and I’ve noticed that most people’s faces just go blank when they learn that someone’s a biochemist. ;-) Which is a pity, right?, since biochemists do very interesting, very diverse work – it’s so highly specialized that it’s hard for us others to grasp…

Good luck to you with your studies and research!

Thanks!

Biochemistry is very interesting indeed :). I love it so much, eventhough it can be hard at times. Thanks for the cheer! Cheers to you too, for giving biochemistry more credit ;).

I take it your boyfriend is a biochemist too? Is he already done, or also studying? I’m curious what field he works in (if he is already finished)! Offcourse you don’t have to tell me, but I’m very curious by nature :P.

Hi Z., I think you’re abroad right now, so you will only read this later. Yes, my boyfriend is indeed a biochemist, currently a Ph.D. candidate, and he does research on Alzheimer’s disease at an institute in Berlin (there are also biologists in the group). You wrote me once that you know Neukoelln, but you are not studying in Berlin or are you? No worries, I’m not a stalker, I just think that coincidence would be funny ;-)

Hey! The research your boyfriend does sounds very interesting, Alzheimer is a terrible disease, but it is interesting to see what it does to the brain. Before my biochemistry study I studied nursing. That is what got me in Berlin. In my last year of studies I did a ‘praktikum’ in Klinikum Neukoelln. So that is how I know Neukoelln. I lived in Friedenau though, which was a lot better.

I am thinking of coming to Berlin again to study. I still have to do a minor and a ‘praktikum’. It is such an interesting city. What do you do, do you study too, or are you working?

No worries about stalking ;). I too like to ask questions in comments :P. It is a nice way of chatting with people.

Wow!

Good for you! We need more scientists! I loved genetics in school and always wondered where4 I would be if I pursued that and medicine instead of law. :-)

Yup, I’m very happy with what I do :).

I think law is very interesting too, especially criminal law (is it called that in English? Probably not…). When I was younger, I seriousely thought about joining the police force as a detective. It is not really law as you practice, but it has something to do with it ;). What kind of law do you practice?

I guess I can always make the ends between science and law meet in forensic science. I’m interested in that too, besides genetics.

Ziekenwagen has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
