Announcement at Holborn Tube station.  — 1 month ago

Heard this over the PA, on a Saturday evening a few weeks ago:

“To all customers. Please do not lean out over the edge of the platform. If you get hit by a train, it is going to hurt.”

No kidding.

The Tube.

Often a source of giggles. Some of the announcements are priceless, and the attitude that comes with them is wonderful.

One afternoon, at a station along the Northern line, there was announcement asking people to move further along the platform, where there was more room. The announcer finished off with, “but nobody ever listens to me, anyway.” The only thing missing was the sigh.

So very true.

Particularly when a good proportion of them are off their heads on one substance or another. All the more reason to stay along the back of the platform, if you ask me.
