not be afraid to be me... (read all 7 entries…)
Small towns Small minds

If you dress a certain way or look a certain way their is a whole lot of judging that goes on around me… being different tends to be looked down upon… and the things I feel differently on the inside that can’t be seen I am reluctant to let be known to the outside….but I was made this way regardless of how “different” it is…. need to be like the peacock and strut my feathers instead of hide them underneath fear…sigh

But a big world

I know just how tough it can be living in a small town. I grew up in a tiny, remote area with a population of 2000 and one street light. Needless to say, as a community outreacher and spirited individual, I often felt people’s resistance to to change and their tendency to hold many prejudices. Just remember there is a glorious world out there full of people who share your values and open vision. And always be proud of who you are.

So very true...

Hi luvlynamazing:

If you dress a certain way or look a certain way their is a whole lot of judging that goes on around me… being different tends to be looked down upon…

yes, but if you can get over your own fears and be comfortable being yourself, no one around you won’t seem to care because you are not embarassing yourself.

and the things I feel differently on the inside that can’t be seen I am reluctant to let be known to the outside….

what do you feel inside of yourself? That’s the secret to being passionate about life, your life around you. I have discovered this myself the past few years. I do floral designs, make beeded jewelry, attend and/or join women’s or feminist organizations and meetings. I dress the way I want. I wear sandals and paint my toes different colors. This makes me happier within myself.

but I was made this way regardless of how “different” it is…. need to be like the peacock and strut my feathers instead of hide them underneath fear…

Yes, the peacock struts his feathers to attract and warn off enemies at the same time, offense and defense. The question is what do you want to strut for? Does this make any sense? or am I wrong here? Anyway, your amazing and fairly new here welcome to 43 things, I would like to subscribe to your profile page is that okay?

subscribing....

I wouldn’t mind that one bit.. tho I have to admit I am not really sure what that is…

finding the passion inside and finding out how I feel are two huge goals of mine… it’s like this restless side of me that is so close to something but not able to touch it…almost like trying to reach some sort of enlightenment within myself…

the things you have written and what you say are genuinely how I feel…you make things that are complicated a little more simple.
Thanks for your response

Hi luvlynamazing-

I wouldn’t mind that one bit.. tho I have to admit I am not really sure what that is…

Yes, that’s how I would describe mine. It’s a journey one takes and it may take some time finding out what the goal really is.

the things you have written and what you say are genuinely how I feel…you make things that are complicated a little more simple.
Thanks for your response

Why thank you for the nice compliment. I look at one’s passion is this, “doing something you love to do and would stop everything else your doing for this passion.”

For example, I do volunteer work at NARAL Pro-Choice Massachsuets. I love volunteering my time to a cause I beleive in, and this is one of them. I love the people for work and volunteer also, and the entire experience knowing that I am doing something to help for women’s reproductive rights to choose.

Having the experience of “lobbying the Boston State House” for the “35 ft. Buffer Zone Bill” which will allow pregnant women to enter untouched, unharmed through a permanent 35 ft. area inside a Planned Parenthood clininc, it was a joy to be part of that and knowing the people responsible for pushing this bill for Governor Patrick’s signature into Law.

Everyone has a “passion” in their life, whether it be sports, dance, music, crafts (like beaded jewelry), flowers (mine too), fashion or even shopping. The question is how do I use that passion to help me suceed in life.

If one hates his or her job, and works only for the money, or to feed their family, okay they have a purpose and I respect that. But what if one had the chance to wokr at something that they love to do, would it still be considered work? or would it be considered a passion. That’s what I want to do,
instead of adapting to just any job, I want to do work at something I love doing. I imagine everyone would love this opportunity but to some it may just be a dream.

passion instead of work...

I’ve asked myself that very question, “if you could have a job as anything regardless of education, location, probability, etc… what would it be? ” The problem is not that I can ask the question, the problem is not knowing the answer. I guess one of my biggest passions would have to be people themselves… I am drawn to those that are the opressed or in some need of help… all the classic underdog cases… I believe all people have the right to get married regardless of who they are marrying… i believe all children should be protected and saved from abusive families… I believe we all need to give more of our time and energy to those that are less fortunate… I am not sure how I feel about abortion… it is one of those subjects that I am on the fence about… I can see lots of good points from both sides… I think it is awesome that you have found an outlet for your passion and you freely speak how you feel and what you believe… very refreshing… lots of people believe and feel a certain way but don’t express it for fear of what others may say…encouraging to say the least.

I respect you opinion of abortion...

even though I am Pro Choice, and it’s great you want to work for the underdog, children saved from abusive famailies, any couple should the right to marry regardless of gender. Thank yoiu for your compliments and yes, I always speak freely about how I feel, sad, happy, or depressed feelings, it’s how I live my life.
