where to start??

i have thought about doing this since i was a child i would love to complete this goal by the end of next year…where do i start?

Flying totally kicks @$$. When I have the money saved up I want to go finish my private pilots certificate.
Check out www.beapilot.com to find a flight school in your area. You can get a short discovery flight for $49. Basically you and an instructor inspect the plane, take off, fly around the pattern once, and land. I was both terrified and exhilerated when I did mine.
Beyond that you could think about getting Microsoft’s flight sim to get your flying fix at home and maybe do ground school which is a not too expensive way to get involved.

I am TWO hours into getting my pilot’s certificate – it is one of The Most Awesome Things I have ever done.
Go to www.AOPA.org They have a whole section on becoming a pilot – how to start, what it will cost, how to find an instructor and all sorts. They also have a pilot mentoring program.
My only regret – that I waited over 20 years to start this! There is financial aid and even scholarships, so don’t let money stand in the way!
