Spoil Sport  — 2 years ago

I drink faaar too much and i know I could do better in High School and would be healthier if i cut down. Im not actually addicted (I don’t think) but a lot of my friends are quite well off and at huge parties the drink is always flowing and hard to avoid/resist and we go out most weekends and the drink is very cheap. Im sick of waking up in stupid places with random bruises and my stomach churning. Twice friends have ended up in casualty from headbutting beer kegs and other foolish accidents. Funny at the time but really dangerous. I think if some of us start cutting down others will follow but Im a bit worried about being a spoil sport.

Just stop, no problem.

When I was in high school I didn’t drink at all. Check that – I quit drinking when I turned 16. I partied hard between 14-16. When I turned 16 I totally quit. Guess what? I still got invited to the parties and when I told everyone that I wouldn’t drink they didn’t care, especially because that meant I could always be the designated driver. I think it even got me invited to more parties for that reason. Honestly if you’re at a party and you’re not drinking mostly no one even notices b/c they’re too involved with themselves. I have developed a drinking problem in the past few years on and off and as a result I look back at my high school years and am soooooo glad I didn’t drink then. It’s just bad news. Tell us how things go. I write about my progress here every day and it’s really helping me stay focused. Good luck! You can do it!

Don't

You won’t be. That’s a personality thing.

You’ll probably find that some people will try to chang your mind. But you’re right so stick to it.
