stop drinking caffeine
Hard, but worthwhile. 17 months ago

I was seriously addicted to caffeine—drinking sometimes as much as two 2-liter bottles of diet coke a day.

About five weeks ago I decided to quit, being sick of all the ups-and-downs in energy levels and the insomnia. I went cold-turkey, muddling my way through 4 days of headaches before finally coming out the other side—I think this worked better than the other times I’ve tried to quite (by slowly reducing intake) because I now have a strong negative deterrent.

The end result? I’ve found that it’s easier to sleep at night and (paradoxically) easier to remain “awake” during the day. Plus, I probably save $5 a day doing this, adding up to almost $2000 a year. Definitely worthwhile.
