emchik will learn that everything does not have to be perfect--eventually.
Unfortunately, I’ve had to push back my exams, again. I’ve had a pretty crappy summer, and I lost a lot of studying/reading time. My cat died on Mother’s Day. A week later, my aunt lost her battle to cancer, and that’s been really hard because we were really close. About three weeks later my dad was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. He almost died. He’s going to be okay, but he’s still in the hospital.
So I lost almost two months of studying time, and now I have to push back my exams from August to October. I’m disappointed that I won’t be prepared to take my exams next month, but life happens—and it really really happened to me this summer. It’s only been in the last week that I’ve begun to get back on track (and I am super proud of myself for reading Orientalism this week).
There are five weeks left until school starts, and I hope to get a ton of reading done in that time. I’ve decided to focus on my more difficult texts because I won’t have as much time to read once I start teaching again in the fall.
