A lot of different types of people are just plain mean…surely not all book people are mean??

hi,
i love books, so no offence. but i worked for years selling books online and on ebay and then worked in a few bookstores in boston and maine. and i also worked at libraries all over the world: new zealand, ireland, NYC, florida and more.
My conclusion: book people (i.e. collectors, book lovers, biblio-enthusiasiats, librarians) are meanspirited. passive aggressive, suspicious and downright terrible. they would sell their mother for another good book.
anyway, that’s my experience…maybe i’ve been unlucky…

Maybe it’s the collecting thing. I think a lot of people who collect things would sell their mother! My experience any way. Die hard collectors can be rude. And right down mean.
Wow sounds like you have travelled a lot and seen a lot of things, good for you!
I always thought it would be fun to work at the bookstore or library…maybe I’ll just stick to visiting those places and being one of the nice book people!
How long were you in NZ? I have always wanted to go there.
