Get up at 6am every day (read all 12 entries…)

Well, I’ve gotten much better about getting to bed earlier (10:00) and I thought that would help me with this goal. However, I really feel that in order to successfully accomplish this goal I need to have at least one goal in mind to motivate me when I get up in the morning. Obviously, a goal like “go to work” is a given (and to be honest, not very inspiring). So focusing on WHY I’d like to get up early in the morning:

1) To spend time studying and understanding my relationship with God.
2) To exercise (I have a half marathon coming up that I need to better prepare for).
3) To bond with my dog (we can exercise together).
4) To feel organized and calm when I walk out the door, giving the rest of the day a great start.
5) To fit in a few smaller tasks (cleaning, special holiday cards) in the morning while I have more energy.

There, that should do it for now. Maybe I will post this by my bed…

Also note that while going to bed at 10pm is good, that is only 7 hours sleep and not that good for you. Why don’t you aim for bed at 9.30pm and up at 5.30am? That will give you your 8hours sleep and still allow you an additional hour than before. If you have a morning plan then you will get more done as well so even though you will ‘lose’ half an hour from your original plan you will gain it in productivity.

Good Luck. I too am going to work on this goal although mine was for 5.30. I am thinking that I will revise it to 6am for now though??? We shall see.

I’ve actually been thinking of giving up this goal. 5am seems a little overkill and to be honest, I’m tired of feeling like a “failure”! ;) 5:30am may be better, but at this point I think I’m going to adjust to 6am. Once I feel good with that, I may try the 9:30/5:30 goal. But consistently getting up at 6am will be a great start and set me up for success. :) So if you see this goal changing, don’t be alarmed! :)

I am going to do this too. I got up at 6.30am this morning and I am going to do that for a month and then reavulate my waking time.
