Help my father recover from his stroke (read all 72 entries…)
Dad's going on holiday 3 months ago

Mum’s going too but it won’t be a holiday for her as she won’t have a carer to get him into and out of bed and get him washed. She’ll have to do that plus all the pushing of the wheelchair but won’t have to cook or wash up during this week which is a little something I guess.

They’re just going to a seaside resort on the south coast as getting insurance for dad to go abroad is now impossible and she wanted to go away somewhere where she can come home early if she can’t cope. One of her friends has volunteered to be an emergency pick-up for them if it’s too much – what a good friend to offer something like that.

I hope it goes well for them and they both enjoy themselves.

Holiday's over

They survived a week at the seaside. Dad got a little sunburnt but they went to the theatre a couple of times and had a change of scenery.

I started the European country list but as you can see others have added to it. Please feel free to remove non-independent countries as it’s a community list.

She is a female – almost all tortoiseshell/calico cats are female as the colouration is due to having two X chromosones (one for a black/white cat and one for a ginger/white cat) being active in different parts of the cat’s coat.

There are very few male tortoiseshell cats as these need XXY to have this colouration and most males are just XY.

It’s nice to know things went not too bad for your dad at the seaside :)
Hope your mum could also get some holiday soon, as she must have worked hard to help your dad.

About the Country list, i don’t go in this part of 43 usually, just done it this time through a link you posted here. So I don’t think I will change the list…I will let other people to do it if they like. Hope that ok.

Thanks a lot for the infos about females and males cat. I heard there were more females for this colours but didn’t know why. Often I can reconise male/female by the face, but not always
Did you also heard, black cats are more often males ? Is it thrue ?
I love cats.

Mum does go on holiday :)

Dad goes into a care home for two weeks a year (approx 6 months apart) and I take Mum to Champneys for a couple of nights then she goes to stay with family or friends for another 3 nights. This gives her a couple of nights at home on her own too.

These breaks are essential for Mum and Dad expects them now – and knows that he’ll only be there a week and has friends that come and visit him.
