Had a routine PSA test Monday during a physical. Tuesday the doctor’s office called to say the level was elevated – 14 or so – and I needed to get checked. So I have an appointment for Thursday morning. I could use a few prayers if anybody’s so inclined.
This couldn’t come at a worse time. I just started a new job Tuesday, and I’m between health insurance for more than a month. I can get COBRA from the old job if it turns out to be cancer, but I’d rather not.
My wife did some research and found out that many high PSA tests are false-positives, which is reassuring. I didn’t know this, but having sex within two days before a PSA test can give a false positive. I’m hoping this is the reason.
