Day 10 of at least 20 5 months ago

I haven’t written anything for a while, as there actually hasn’t been that much to write. This cleanse is a lot easier than I thought it was going to be (so far?). It’s Day 10 already! I am definitely continuing for at least another 10 days. Day 4 was the hardest, as I had a bit of a headache earlier in the day and was hungry. I was debating ending the cleanse on that day, as I just wanted to taste something. But that wasn’t a good reason, and I do have willpower. :)

I would go for 30 days, but there are two things standing in the way of that: there is a wedding on Day 32 for which I would like to be able to eat, and I think the weight loss would be too much by that point. I started at 125 lbs, and am now down to 118 and noticeably smaller (to myself, not to others).

I have still been wanting to eat just for the sake of taste. Again, I do not think this is a good reason to eat, and want to continue until I can rewire my thinking somewhat in this regard.

I’m starting to think of how I will adjust my eating habits post-cleanse. Today is Day 26 of not eating junk food, and I want to see how long I can maintain this, with my minimum goal being forty days. I was a near-vegan before starting this cleanse and most days would eat a vegan diet. I’m considering making this tendency more strict and going vegan for six out of seven days a week, and limiting my animal product intake on lacto-ovo day. I’m currently trying to find good vegan cookbooks to supplement this. It’s difficult, as a good cookbook to me would have recipes that are not too complex or time-consuming with ingredients that are easy to find. I live in Newfoundland, and health food and specialty stores are few and far between. It would also have to be a healthy cookbook with emphasis on whole grains vs refined grains, spices vs salt, and healthy fat vs saturated/trans fat.

I see this cleanse as a great way to “start over” with a healthier body and mind. I also would like to maintain the weight loss when I finish, and today am starting to incorporate running into my cleansing regimen. I definitely realize the importance of weight-training as well, but I don’t really like it. It will take more effort to add that to my lifestyle. I do take part in Taekwon-Do, and think this will help with maintaining a healthy body.
