Remember to have fun with my dogs (read all 15 entries…)
Dogs are the best cure 2 months ago

for bad moods.
I was in a seriously bad mood today. I`m just too tired really. And walking the dogs seemed like an overwhelming task. But it has to be done, so we finally got out on our walk. And then we met a gang of french mastifs. Wow, those dogs are big! And three of them at the same time, they were quite a sight. The owners were struggling to hold them, one woman was actually half lying on one of them when we were passing by, to keep him from rushing up to the poodles. But the dogs looked nice, so I said they could just let them off leash if they wanted. They did, and Agatha had a ball playing with them. Mastifs are huge, but slow, and Agatha adores playing with dogs who have no chance of catching up with her. I think she feels like queen of the world when she can outrun much bigger dogs.
I would never have a dog like that, they are way too big for me, plus my legs are covered in slobber after only 15 minutes with them. But other than that, they were very cute giants.
My mood is considerably better after spending some time with a big gang of happy dogs.
Cora did not really have a good time though, she is seriously depressed again, so she was just walking around and kept coming up to me, looking like she was saying “Mom, that dog came near me, take it away”. It`s temporary though. It will be over in, sigh, 2 months. After that, I just have to have her spayed.

Comments:

They are simply

amazing. Dogs will always improve your mood. My baby has done wonders for my depression since I’ve had her. She can be so funny. It’s so good to hear about Agatha running around and having fun. I’m sure you’ve probably mentioned this before so I apologize but how old is Cora? I think I remember you saying that Agatha was 4.

They really are :)

It`s hard to be in a bad mood watching a happy, jumping, playing dog. I try to learn from my dogs about just enjoying life and not worrying about the future. :)

Cora is 3. She has been fine until now, but had a phantom pregnancy after christmas, which got her really depressed. And now the same thing has happened again. Sigh. Will have to call my vet and discuss spaying. I don`t like it,but I can`t have a dog being that depressed for 3 months twice a year, it`s not good for her. The vet has to agree that depression is a medical reason for spaying though, and then I`ll have to discuss it with the insurance company, who will probably not cover it. sigh.
