I remember asking my grandma when I was little, something like: Does my voice sound like the voice I think with. Does that sound totally cracked out?
Anyway, when you read someone comment, do you think it with your own voice or how theirs might sound?

When I “hear” words I am reading, it is because I am trying to remember something intrinsic to them. I don’t “listen” to the voice that writes, except for poetry, and then I hear the poet. It is always strange to me to read poetry out loud because then my voice is adding me to what the poet started out with.

At work, I mumble a lot, because otherwise I’d have to write down a lot of things as I move from screen to screen on my desk top. Mumbling the words means I remember them for a few moments, and lets me work a lot faster. Happily I am off in a corner with no one around, so I am not weirding out the office.
