actually, it’s for:
A/C – apparently a rock came up under the car and hit the compressor and it caused $850 worth of repairs
Airbag light – which, apparently, isn’t really the airbag light. according to the mechanic, it’s really some switch related to the seat belt. hmmm. $350
Two rear windows – don’t move. haven’t for some time. So i need two ‘kits’ and the labor for opening up the back panels and fixing. $750
Oh, but they are going to change my front headlight for free. I guess that is something. :-/ (they made the car so you can’t do it yourself – the whole assembly has to come out!)
None of this is cosmetic. I contemplated just dealing without a/c as i have been the first half of the summer, and i probably should have, but those leather seats kill me!
He said he wasn’t even going to bring up the convertible top issue (i asked). said its been working for him okay so i left it alone. he said if i can deal w/o the flap i can defer the extra $500 to fix that. i said i can wait.
none of this includes the panel replacement or new paint job i will need if i ever want to get it to LOOK normal again. :-/ but i’ve pretty much given up on that.
thanks for the toyota input tho ;) i wont be telling my parents the cost, but b’s not so good at that. i’ll have to make sure to remind him not to spread the word about this one….
