On preparation for my colonoscopy tomorrow 16 months ago

I have to drink 64 oz. of Gatorade mixed with a non tasting substance called Miralax. I drank 32 oz. and threw up most of it. That’s not very good.

I have taken 2 laxatives which were probably no good too and came up with the Gatorade. This is awful so far.

Now I have to try to down the other 32oz of Gatorade mixed with Miralax. It’s hard enough I do not even like Gatorade.

Then I have to take 4 more laxatives and something called phosphosoda mixed with 3 glasses of a clear liquid. All of tis before 10:00PM tonight.

Arrrgh! No wonde rI have been putting this off for so long.

As you know...

...I’ve been there too many times.

Wish I had some advice that could make it easier. Alas, pissing and moaning and weeping and wailing were my approaches to the 2 most recent “prep” sessions I had to do.

(By the way, for anyone who hasn’t had a colonoscopy, the evening-before prep isn’t typically that awful. For me these last two times, it was vastly worse because I was in the middle of a vicious Crohn’s flareup, and therefore had already been in terrible, steadily escalating pain throughout big chunks of my GI tract for months.)

I threw up the rest of the gatorade and gave up on it. So I took the 4 laxatives and then some of the phosphosoda which was making me nauseous. I gave up on that too. All in all the prep worked and I am ready for my 10:45 appointment.

Now I hope the test comes back all negative.

BTW, I called and cried to my mom. Then I cried to my friend who happens to have CD. I felt better afterwards.

Poor Segsy!

All that Miralax and phosphosoda didn’t do much to clean out your colon… but it apparently cleaned out your esophagus and throat!

Congratulations on your sudsy clean bill of health!
