I’ve made it one month without alcohol. In that time I’ve dealt with the consequences and untold personal pain from two specific events that occurred while influenced by alcohol. I’ve been tempted many times to hit the bottle, but have thus far managed to stay straight. I’m definitely not out-of-the-woods yet, but everyday that pull to drink becomes a little less. The grip is coming loose. I’ve made a promise to myself and my family and I intend to keep it. It’s the only way I’ll come out a better man.

Hang in there
I just hit my one month mark yesterday. Had some considerable help from a lot of nice people in a certain nameless organization. From what I understand, it takes about 90 days for your body to completely detox from alcohol. And they say the physical cravings actually do go away eventually. Some things that have helped me: talking about it when I’m about to give in, finding fun stuff to do online, cleaning something—sounds crazy but it makes you feel good when you’re done, eating saturn nectarines, drinking ginger ale and orange juice, going for a walk, calling someone I haven’t talked to in a while, baking, and listening to music. Good luck, luv.
Thanks for the support everyone. Being able to share my experiences, both triumphs and defeats and listen to others helps tremendously.

the First Month
The first month was the hardest. Its all down hill now. It gets easier and easier avoiding the alcohol. If you get a craving or start to weaken remember what alcohol did to you and come and post. That is what helped me.
