CloudyChan is making a ball joint doll

weee

what is it made of?:

It is made of a extra firm Modelling clay called “Klean Klay” which isn’t really a clay at all it is a non-sulfured plastalina clay (made from plastic) which you can use over and over and it never dries out because it is oil based (you can not make it hard either, so if you tried to bake it it would just melt ;P) I will be making a mould of it and filling it with something I can bake, like Polymer Clay, then eventually (hopefully) I will make the final out of Porcelain.

where did you find the instructions to make it?:

I made it with a lot of reasearch into Ball jointed dolls, Visiting some websites, I even went to the library and borrowed some clay modelling books and doll repair books to get an idea.

did you finish it yet???:

Nope it isn’t finished yet, so I dont even know if it will all fit together properly, but well, I will find that out when I make the mould _

thanks so much for the interest!

Cloudy

Clay

Shikluv:

I bought the clay from a art supplies shop, this clay however is a personal choice as I am somewhat a beginner, I thought because I want to have time to play around with it, I better get something that does not dry out.

I have to make a mould of this doll, so that I can pour in something that I can dry out and hollow out then put in a kiln and fire it.

if you wanted to just make a doll on the spot, choose a clay that dries out, and that you can bake, (as making a mould is very tricky and you need a lot of practice to do)

the special tools are just some plastic sculpting tools of various sizes I will buy better ones someday.

ahhh^.^
