Getting rid of Optimism 16 months ago

They say that if you have great expectations then you must be a very optimistic person. You get angry because you are optimistic and therfore have expectations of the world around you. I’m working slowly of bringing down my optimism, not too much, just so that it is equal to my cynicism and therefore erase any expectations I might have.

So I have Been Told...

And it does make sense to me. eg: you’re driving down a high way and you see a car ducking and weaving overtaking various cars without its indicator on. You get angry and start yelling ‘what bloody motorist doesn’t use their indicator?’ ... this is because you are optimistic that every driver knows where the indicator is! If you have no expectations, then this behaviour just doesn’t surprise you! This is the philosophy that I’m trying to wrap around in my mind.
