Make MP3s from my LPs

I don’t want to transfer ALL my vinyl to mp3, becuase some of the albums are in pretty awful condition and/or are so rarely played it wouldn’t be worth the time, effort, or hard drive space. But I have a lot of great albums that I should transfer, at least 40 in total. Some old 70s folk and rock, standup comedy from Bill Cosby and George Carlin, and even the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Time to boogie on down to the office!

Additional tool

If you don’t already have it as part of your set-up, there is software out there that can help clean up some of the pops and hisses, to make the recorded tracks even more pristene. It is a little work to work with these, but if you are salvaging a favorite album, it is sometimes worth the effort.

Good luck with this project!

Yeah, it is a bit of work to clean up the scratches, but it’s usually worth it. Then again, I almost like the scratches and pops on the standup comedy albums better than the cleaned-up versions. Nostalgia, I guess. Thanks for the tip, though!

Yes, “For Russell My Brother” probably won’t be the same without a few scratches, if you have that. And we will miss the evolution of George Carlin from funny young man to funny cranky man.
