stop drinking (read all 17 entries…)
Day 21 10 months ago

Things are going pretty well for me. I started to work out with free weights and feel so much better. Although can’t stop thinking about the next few days. I have 2 BIG tests. (1st) My brother is coming over W/ Old drinking buddies for a cook out and cards and (2nd) a 7 hour concert Monday night. I have been going to concerts for about 25 yr and I can not remember ever not drinking at them….

I’ll keep my goal in mind and not let either event stop my 3 weeks of progress

be in control

you can do it!- just don’t be afraid or embarrassed to tell them you don’t want a drink. If they don’t listen and say things like “aww, come on, just have one or two…” Be firm in saying “no” so they get the message. The most challenging part will probably be convincing yourself that even though a drink would be nice, quitting is what you really want deep down.

Something you can do

When im with people that are drinking (i work in a bar as a manager) i ask for water with lemon, a soda or an energy drink. I cannot say there that i stop drinking alcohol. thats why i do that. With people that i know or family i say that im not drinking or that is not good for me.
If your friend insist, you just say “im ok with it ( with whatever you are drinking)”
Something that people told me i an AAmeeting is that people who have alcohol problems insist more, people who dont have that problem wont realize if you drinking just soda or water :)
Take care.
