House or appartment? In any case, how big?
Do you have carpets?
Do you have pets?
Is there anyone that suffers from asthma or allergies living in the house/appartment?
Do you want a cheap machine with cheap quality, or something more expensive but that could last for 20 years or more?
Do you have any hard wood floors?

Zelmer 1500

This one would do well if your carpets are the short kind. Or medium-small. If you have longer carpets, go with the 2500 model, which something like $50 more expensive, but that comes with a turbo brush. :)
I really like it, because right now they’re considered as the second best in the world, and they’re like… 500$ less expensive than the best ones. It’s light and compact, has the HEPA filtration system (best thing ever for asthmatics), and it’s solid and durable.
I hope it helps! :)

I have a Tri-Star. Paid a lot for this and got it about 10 yrs ago. It’s a wonderful vacuum, very powerful motor, suction.

I just saw a Tri-Star today, those are kind of rare! The guy came to the store to look for the bags, but I didn’t have any.

Really? My brother owns one, too. He bought his about 2 yrs before I bought mine. He was so excited about his, he brought his from where he lived in Albuquerque at the time to Phoenix, AZ.
He poured salt all over my carpet and had me vacuum it up with my Phantom vacuum (which I paid around $300 for and thought that was soooo expensive). Afterwards, he took his Tri-Star and sucked up what my vacuum didn’t get, which was a lot.
He had a clean bag and showed me how much I missed, and that when I vacuumed, all that dust and stuff in the air. He showed when he vacuumed with his vacuum, no dust.
As I continued experience a lot of dust and allergies, I got frustrated and broke down to spend about $2K for my vacuum. My home is significantly cleaner, air fresher. The vacuum still works 10 yrs later just as good as it did when I bought it and it gets used regularly with 2 young kids.
I do get my vacuum serviced once a year, though. And for quite some time, the first 8 yrs, it was a part of the deal of getting free servicing for 25 yrs. However, they went out of business or something like that or got bought out and they no longer honored that. That was upsetting to pay $2K and not get that.
It costs me about $70-100 to service it yearly.

nature abhors a vacuum; does that mean that your dogs are often relieving themselves on yours?

I had to read this twice before I started laughing. Thank you for helping me meet my laugh goal for today. Cute.

lol – right now i don’t have a vacuum cleaner…I like this goal though…might just add it to my list – I really like getting to know other peoples thoughts on things.

We have one in one of the stores where I work, it was made in 1936! It’s one of those old models that had skis instead of wheels! And the worst, is that it still works! lol!

I wish I had one… But with no carpet, I have no vacuum at all!

i didn’t realize that was a screenshot & not a cromulent photo until just now.
If I’d have known you three years or so ago, I would have saved that vacuum for you. I took that picture just before throwing it out. Still ran. Poorly. But it did still work.
Taught me not to vacuum over pennies, though….

The pennies bit.
Yeah, I wouldn’t have realized that it was a screenshot either. but now that you mention it, I can totally read your name.
My parents still had one until just recently. But, like I said, I wouldn’t have any use for it, even if I did have it.
Meanwhile… the curse of long hair… it’s probably for the best that I keep my distance from vacuums, as I tend to kill them.

I gave it to my mom, though, so she could keep one upstairs and not lug a VC all around the house.
I have hardwood floors now so it’s swiffers and pledge for me.
Simon. instead of making me search all over 43T, Facebook, gmail…
I have a Sebo X4 Extra. German engineering in a vacuum cleaner, backed up by a five year parts and labor guarantee.
That thing sucks!
Girl From Mars shut up and let me go
My Dad bought it for me. I think it looks cool for a vacuum cleaner as its all black and silver and it seems to work well.
I could walk all the way to the end of the hall and find out but I’m not going to do that.
Hi, baby!

maybe i could just vacuum the floor instead of wipe & wash clean it?
THANK YOU!
bjuwm back to work... uuuggghhh....
We’ve got Dyson which was pretty pricey but we’ve got 2 dogs and a cat and it’s one of the bagless things (which is great b/c we have to empty the vac about 4-5 times when we vacuum the house… our dog is that hairy!!!)
We also have a Bissel ProCleaner for steam cleaning the carpets and a ‘Little Green Machine’ (I think that’s Bissel too) for spot cleaning.
lulubell is a very bad 43thinger but if you PM me I will add you to facebook.

It sucks. And by that I mean it doesn’t suck. Err, its horrible.
