be a massage therapist (read all 2 entries…)
Went to massage therapy school 16 months ago

and felt like they were trying to brain wash me the entire time I was there. They weren’t just about homeopathic remedies, they were also all about ridiculous government conspiracy theories. They spent a lot less time teaching massage than they did “the government is poising our water supplies” etc, etc. I did very little massage and just felt like I wasted $7000 on learning inaccurate bull shit.

My advice for anyone looking into this is to be very careful about what school you choose. Pick a professional, scientific school. The school I went to SEEMED like one of those. Srsly. BE CAREFUL.

that totally sucks!

thankfully i attended a really good school. it’s so maddening that people try to push their agenda on students rather than teach them responsible techniques, ethics, and business practices.

We have so many MT schools in Austin, and several of them have rather lousy reputations. the one i went to happened to be the one i grew up near so i was very aware of it and never thought of going anywhere else and it turns out they are one of the most respected in the country. i always felt grateful for that b/c I have a few friends who went to schools that made it seem like they were accredited, but turns out they weren’t.

I’m sorry you had to spend so much money for that school. Did you finish or were you able to get licensed anyway?
