There are two forms of achievement 10 months ago

Achievements can be abstract or concrete.

The abstract achievement may include planning, hoping, dreaming, prayer, faith, love…the things that are necessary to feed the spirit and nourish the soul. Without abstract achievement, happiness would allude us all.

The concrete achievement includes items checked off the list for the day, calls made, bills paid, visits, appointments actually placed on the calendar and attended, truly finishing anything, small or big, that you set out to do.

The trick to real achievement is balancing the abstract and concrete. This requires an awareness in the mind of whether the scale is tipping one way or the other. I want to make a conscious effort to balance the abstract and concrete achievements in my life…I believe I will see some positive results if I keep this objective in the front of my mind and pursue it with fervor.

Outta cheers!!

Thanks for sharing!! Lately I have needed to do a lot more of what you call abstract achieveing for myself. Not realizing that I am trying to find my balance between the two. Thank you, it seems you have put into words exactly how I am feeling.

It seems

each person’s nature may influence whether she is the action-oriented or cerebral type. Sometimes it can be just as hard to slow down and have quiet time to reflect, as it is to knock down your action list.

You seem like one of the more “aware” people here, Julie. I think you can do whatever you set your mind to do. The fact that you realize your need will point you in the right direction.

I really appreciate your response. :)

I would agree

that there is the two types. Thank you too SG, I appreciate your response as well. I have been trying to aware of what my soul has been needing lately. Last weekend was to catch up on some reading and journaling.

Noticed your not on as much as you were ;)

Thank you for this.

I tend to discount the time spent on abstract goals as wasted, so this is the reminder I needed.

So lovely to see you posting again! I’ve missed your wisdom and kindness.

flip my penny

I like that imagery. Thank you.

Wonderful balance

Expressing it in words really helps with a positive focus. I like to see my life and goals as blended and balanced between the abstract and the concrete. I will be using your reflection as the basis for a much needed goal review. Thanks, Shimmer!
